In this session, we will discuss best practices for supporting English-language learners in computer science classrooms. Drawing upon teacher and student experiences, we will explore common challenges, share successful strategies, and compile tools for curriculum development and advocacy. Anticipated participant takeaways from this discussion include the importance of CS to ELLs as a means of communication, language acquisition, and cultural understanding; and, correspondingly, the importance of ELLs to CS, to diversify the CS field and build new innovation.
